Pictures of TUI's First Badminton Winner, Anne-Marie Scott with Dolly
No Going Back For Anne Marie And Dolly Thanks To The Revolutionary Tui Bar AFTER previous bad experiences loading and travelling her seven-year-old mare Dolly, Anne Marie Scott from Reading was at a loss and thought she may have to stop travelling to shows and competing. Anne Marie had owned Dolly for just over a year and the Warmblood Cross Thoroughbred has played a huge part in her life as they have successfully competed in Cross Country, Show Jumping and Dressage events, but Anne Marie couldn’t help thinking this may come to an end when loading and travelling became so stressful. Said Anne Marie: “Previous to having the Tui Bar fitted, Dolly would just stand in the trailer and pull back, she would use her strength against me, before I had chance to go to the back of the trailer to shut the breach bar she would have already reversed herself out. “Travelling also used to be a worry, because she is a very big horse and would slide about as though she couldn’t get her balance. “The journey to the competition was more worrying than actually competing. “Whilst my friend was at a show she visited the Tui stand and entered me in a Tui prize Draw, luckily I won, and I have not looked back since having the Tui Bar fitted”. The Tui Bar is easy to install and comes complete with full instructions. The clever design of the Tui Bar allows you to fasten the breach bar into the locked position whilst standing at your horse’s head, preventing horses getting into the habit of reversing out before you can safely secure them inside. Inventor of the Tui Bar, Mandy Smith said: “The Tui Bar means you no longer have to put yourself or others around you in danger, the Tui Bar reduces the risk of you being trampled or kicked by wiping out the need for you to go to the back of the trailer to put across the breach bar.” The Tui Bar has a superb safety release system, which is not offered in any other form of trailer transport. If your horse happens to become upset whilst travelling and becomes stuck on the breast bar or cast, there is a quick way of solving the problem. By releasing the breast and breach bars which are holding the partition rigid from the opposite side of the trapped horse, the Tui Bar drops, the breast and breach bars are no longer fastened across, blocking the horse, but lay flush with the side of the trailer. Once the bar is laying in the down position the central partition is automatically freed, clearing the area and creating space around your horse thus turning a traumatic situation into something easily resolved. Said Anne Marie: ”Dolly has always paddled about whilst travelling as though she is slipping, but since using the Tui Bar I can not feel a thing whilst towing the trailer. “The padded Tui Bar runsl along the inside wall of the trailer and I think gives her extra support and stability, she can lean comfortably against them and not slip. “The great safety system of the Tui Bar also gives me piece of mind, if Dolly does get into difficulty I know I can rely on the Tui safety system to help the situation.” Tui Equestrian Limited manufacture bars specifically designed for most trailers. Any bad experiences your horses’ have in the early stages of travelling will form a base for his future.” If your youngster loads and then pulls back and reverses out of the trailer in the first couple of instances he will think he can do this every time it comes to loading. Not enough if you are travelling him without a Tui Safety Bar. The Tui Safety Bar eliminates many of the dangerous aspects which surround the use of trailers and loading. The invention by Mandy Smith prevents horses reversing out of trailers before you have time to fasten the breach bar and shut the ramp. Before the horse is inside the trailer the Tui Safety Bar rests in the down position. Once horse and handler are inside the trailer the breast bar is locked into position whilst at the same time operating the breach bar. You can securely tie your horse up without having to rush to the back of the trailer to shut him in! There is no chance of children and adults getting kicked whilst trying to put the back bar across and the Tui Safety Bar puts an end to dangerous accidents because of rushing to get the ramp up and it slipping and landing on your child, partner or friend. With a Tui Safety Bar fitted in your trailer it not only creates a safer environment whilst loading but also adds a safer aspect to travelling. The Tui Safety Bar has a superb safety release system, which is not offered in any other form of trailer transport. If your horse happens to become upset whilst travelling and becomes stuck on the breast bar or cast, there is a quick way of solving the problem. By releasing the breast & breach bars which are holding the partition rigid from the opposite side of the trapped horse the Tui Bar drops, the breast and breach bars are no longer fastened across, blocking the horse, but lay flush with the side of the trailer. ENDS Press Release - Equestrian Trade News One of the products to make the news at this year’s BETA International was the Tui Bar developed by Mandy Smith. Here we find out more about how this successful enterprise developed and how it is going from strength to strength. How the Idea Developed Mandy Smith a keen rider looked forward to competing in many events with her new horse Tui, but realised that this could not be achieved when she discovered that she took a dislike to the trailer. Mandy from Hampshire, horse enthusiast, business woman and busy mother, like so many parents had to fit her own equestrian schedule around that of her daughters. The morning of competitions proved to be very trying for Mandy, getting the girls ready for the day ahead and preparing her horse, all in a limited space of time was hectic enough, but she then had to face the daunting task of loading Tui. Said Mandy: “I would lead Tui up the ramp into the trailer. Once Tui was inside she would become quite anxious and settled. I would then have to go under the breast bar whilst reassuring her and then tie her up. “I would then rush to the back of the trailer to put the breach bar across, My young daughters would often offer to help as they have seen adults do this on many occasions, but the last thing I wanted was to have a child assist in loading a horse.’ Mandy became frustrated because on most occasions things did not run smoothly and Tui would have pulled back, snapped the rope, panicked and backed out of the trailer before anyone had time to fasten her in safely, Mandy decided it was time to try and invent a system that she could manage on her own. Said Mandy: “I was so fed up with putting my horse and more importantly an assistant in danger every time I wanted to take Tui somewhere. I had to do something to make loading and travelling by trailer a safer and calmer environment.” This is how the Tui Loading Bar came about. Go Into Production The problem which faced Mandy was not what she was going to design but how she was going to get it made. With no previous experience in fabrications and engineering Mandy was keen to forge partnerships with someone who could develop her idea. Many prototypes were constructed and after many months of hard work and constant discussions with the fabricator the Tui Bar was developed. Said Mandy: “I had a vision and I knew exactly what I wanted, I knew the end product had to be strong enough for a horse but easy enough for women to use’. “It was very important that I did not shy away from the functions I wanted it to perform. The strength and quality of this product were paramount. “I knew that the breach bar had to be operated from the breast bar so that the habit of horses reversing out of trailers could be broken. “I wanted the bar to be pulled up as opposed to be pulled down from above the horses head. “It was a must that the Tui Bar offered some form of safety release system, so that horses which had become cast or stuck on the breast bar could be released in the most efficient way possible. “I knew that this feature of the bar would take the most work, constantly thinking of the horse I wanted to devise a system which was effective, easy to work and quiet, and this has been achieved!” How It Works Before the horse enters the trailer, the Tui breast and breach bar rests in the down position. Once horse and handler are inside the trailer the breast bar is raised into the locked position, therefore automatically raising the breach bar also into the locked position. The Tui bar is then locked into place with the horse safely and securely inside the trailer. The safety system incorporated in the Tui Bar is not offered in any other form of trailer transport. A Safer and Calmer Environment Thanks to its clever design the Tui Bar has eradicated many problems which surrounded loading and transporting horses in trailers. Assistants are no longer required to put across the breach bar, therefore reducing the risk of people getting kicked or trampled. Not only does this mean that you are not putting your loved ones in danger, but also reduces the risk of a law suit being filed against you. Britain is quickly becoming a suing society and horse owners should be very cautious as to who they ask to help load their horse when problems arise, you may be setting yourself up for a legal disaster. The Tui Bar means that no assistants are needed and thus wipes out this problem. The Tui Bar also creates a safer environment when travelling, the quick release safety system ensures piece of mind when transporting horses. Tui Equestrian Ltd stock bars specifically designed for most of the trailer models made in the past decade. Made to measure, models take about 10 working days. At around £400 the bar is excellent value and it enables you to take your horse to the events you bought him for! The Tui Bar means: “If you are home alone you can load alone.” ENDS |
